Our little walker!!!!

Sophia is officially walking.... Well, kind of!
She is officially taking many many steps now! It is so cute to watch her wobbly little self walk towards me. I don't think there is much cuter than a baby learning to walk! She is pretty proud of herself and will dive bomb for a congratulatory hug or will clap and say "yay"!!!!
Speaking of words, Sophia is talking up a storm now. Her favorite thing to say is "kitty" this week and she will look all over the house for Gary cat and then yell "hiya kitty"! This morning Adam was holding her while looking in the mirror and he said "Daddy and Sophia". Sophia squealed and pointed back and said "ya....phia dada"!
Pretty amazing to watch her change each day! Some times she will have a word of they day and then we won't hear it again for a while. Last week she kept saying "baod" (bald) to Papa Roger! Over and over again she was saying it to him and we have not heard it since.

Hope you enjoy these videos of Miss Sophia walking! I was hoping to catch her in big time action but she does not like to perform for the camera...

Busy days!!!

Finally!!!! I have been having trouble uploading photos for the past couple of days but alas it has worked!
Sophia has been a busy monkey the last couple of weeks. She is changing so quickly before our eyes and almost always has us laughing at her goofy little personality! She is a ham already and will do anything to put on a show for an audience. The other night we went to Papa Roger and Grandma Lene's for dinner with my parents. At one point we were all in discussion about boring stuff I am sure and all of the sudden Sophia piped up so loudly until she had all of our eyes on her! She let out her fake laugh and started her entertaining! It was pretty funny!

Sophia is finally becoming more interested in walking and just last night took several steps to me over and over. She really liked how excited we got when she would walk and after awhile she would just lean forward for me to catch her and then squeal and clap her hands with delight!

Another new thing is Sophia's clinginess and her temper tantrums..... Ever since I went back to work, Sophia rarely lets me get out of her sight. If I even stand up to make an attempt to walk out of a room Sophia will throw herself on the floor and cry so hard she loses her cry. It is pretty sad but also draining for me. She will follow me around the house and pull on my pant legs at all times. I can't even get a moment away from her to use the bathroom in privacy. She is taking this to the extreme! You can see one of her tantrums in the above photos...

The other photos are just some randoms from the last week or so. The first is Sophia waiting for me to get her in the van for yet another doctors appointment. The poor girl had three days of high fevers again only to find out she has another urinary tract/kidney infection. She was started on antibiotics and then proceeded to have an allergic reaction to it. Back to emerg on saturday and another antibiotic. She is definitely feeling better now. We really have to keep our eyes on this kiddo. She was diagnosed with bilateral vesticourerter reflux (under developed valves in her ureters) which means she is prone to uti's and kidney infections. She should grow out of it but we have to do everything in our power to keep her healthy in the meantime.... She has had a rough few months.

The next photo is of our goofy girl crawling into her toy basket and then getting stuck which resulted in a fit! She does not like when things do not go her way.
The last two photos are of our little ballerina! I love dressing her up in this outfit. It is funny because her tutu is a 0-3 months size. She wore it for the first time at 6 weeks old to a party but it went down to her ankles. Now it actually looks like a tutu! Too cute!

The BIG FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY!

The Big Day!!!!
Sophia's 1st birthday party was much bigger than we had thought but was so much fun! Sophia had a great day with most of her family and friends! I think we counted 10 or 11 one year olds 3 little big kids, and a bunch of parents and grandparents! It was BUSY!!!!!
Sophia had a beautiful cake made by a friend of mine, balloons galore, yummy food, great company and was more than spoiled with fun gifts. She has a really great playroom now for play dates with her friends!
Sophia was not very interested in her cake. She tried a bit of icing and pushed the rest away. I guess that it isn't a bad thing that she doesn't really like sweets! She would rather have had a cake made of cheese, cooked veggies, grapes and yogurt for icing!
Anyhow, all in all the day was great. Sophia played, laughed and had so much fun. Thanks to all of you who made her day so special!
Her favorite thing to do now is to crawl all by herself across the house to her playroom to enjoy all of her awesome toys! She is turning into such a big girl.....

Happy 1st Birthday Sophia!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Month one two Sophia started with the flu....

I know this is REALLY delayed but I started back to work on Thursday and my time at home has been really precious.....
Sophia's 12th month as we already know did not start off too well.... A yucky stomach flu, trips to the hospital and doctors offices, a urinary tract infection and antibiotics. In the end though she got better and was back to her happy go lucky self!
Month 12 we saw sooooooo many big changes in our baby girl. Sophia took her first steps on January 18th while I was at a Mums group. It was captured on film by my friend Audrey!!! Pretty cool. To this day she takes a couple steps each day but is not overly interested in pursuing the whole walking thing. She is overly cautious and does not like to fall. When I let go of her hands she will just stand there, sometimes dance a little and then slowly crouch down to the floor.
Month 12 brought big advances and Sophia's speech and baby signing. She has quite a few words now (Mama, Mom, Dada, Dad, Doggie, Dog, Kitty, Baba (bottle), Hi, Heyo (hello), Howau (how are you?), nanana (no no no), ya, dat (that). She will hold anything that resembles a phone or use just her hand and talk and laugh for 10 minutes at a time. She even tries to hold the phone between her ear and shoulder. It is really funny! We catch her doing it all the time. Maybe I should take that as a hint????
Sophia can now sign for more, all done, milk, bath, and hungry. In the above photo of her in the bath she is signing it as well!!! She almost has diaper down but it is similar to bath and hungry so she gets a bit confused. She will sometimes do the right sign for asking for food. Very neat to see!
We are so proud of our big baby girl and are really loving this age. She is so much fun and her personality is really shining through. She loves to play and make people laugh but is still a true cuddle monkey with her Mommy and Daddy. I love it.
