Nova Scotia 2011

I made the annual (last 5 years and counting) trip to Nova Scotia with the girls in June so everyone could meet the newest member of the family and so that I could, of course, visit one of my favorite places on earth!

We had a great vacation, got to see most of my extended family and my parents, ate lots of delicious lobster, had a much anticipated (and surprisingly let down) McLobster sandwich, spent time at the beach, went for plenty of flower picking walks, hot tubed, played scrabble and just enjoyed breathing in the sea salt air.

Kingsport means more to me than I can even explain! I have so many great childhood memories there and I really look forward to sharing that little piece of heaven with my girls!

Sophia and Elise were great little travelers and had a blast spending time with my family!
Thank you Aunt Judy and Uncle Paul for putting us up for the week and taking such good care of us while there!

6 months! Wow!

1/2 a year already (actually 7 months old tomorrow)!!! I can't believe how fast this time has gone by. Too fast if you ask me :(
We had a bit of a rough couple of months with our Elly belly or should I say with our Elly's belly! She had reflux and then milk protein allergies. Those combined led to some sleeping issues. Once we got it all under control and Elly had less belly pain, she became a new little baby. Much happier, very smiley and giggly and all around fun. I really noticed a huge change in Elise right at the 6 month mark while on vacation. Maybe it was being around so many new people and so many kids or maybe it was growing out of the milk allergy, but she came home to her Daddy as a new baby.
We started sleep training 4 nights ago and things have been going very well. She is pretty much sleeping through the night now so I have no complaints.
She still plays strange and I know that some people think she is a grumpy, unhappy baby but she couldn't be further from that description. She just really loves her Mommy!
Adam and I were just saying last night that it is shocking how happy she is. I rarely look at her without the biggest and brightest smile on her face. She giggles at almost everything these days. She is rolling all over the place, sitting up all on her own, trying really really hard to crawl, stands up holding our hands, eats solids well and thoroughly enjoys her jumparoo, jolly jumper and exercauser.
She babbles babababa and mamamama all day. She loves when I sing to her and I think her second most favorite person in the world is her big sister.
Sophia is amazing and is such a little Mommy to her baby sister. She kisses her, cuddles in our bed with her daily, says out loud "I love her", tries to carry her places, tries to nurse her, sings to her and like to give her shoulder rides.

At 6 months Elise has almost doubled her birth weight. She is much smaller and shorter than Sophia was but I think what she lacks in size she makes up for in her amazing personality.

6 months stats:
Weight: 13lbs 8 oz
Height: 24 1/4 inches

Toronto fun!

I made the brave venture across the country with the two girls last month. Although the girls both were AWESOME little travelers, we had a few bumps in our 2 week holiday. Each of the girls ended up with the stomach flu a few days apart, a cold to follow for Elly, lost phones, Air Canada strike, delayed flights.....

All in all though it was a great time visiting family.
Our first part of the holiday was a week in Toronto with my sister Chrissy and her BIG ol' family! We had a fun time. Sophia and Mateo were glued at the hip, Lauren and Ella were huge helps with the babies and keeping their eye on Sophia, and Jacob and Elly spent lots of time lying on the floor together posing for hilarious baby pictures.
Elise turned 6 months on the holiday which is so hard to believe. Where did that time go????

I love my sister and really miss living close to her. Especially with Elise and Jacob being so close in age. We plan on trying to visit as much as we can afford! Their house is like a cottage for us with the pool now!

Thank you Chrissy and Joe!
