Naked walker!!!

Sophia LOVES bath time and as soon as we mention it or start the water she will b-line it for the bathtub! Thought we would show you our walker making her way to the bathroom! Lots of tumbles still but there truly is nothing cuter than a baby learning to walk!
Sorry it is sideways!!!! Oops!

Weather, wagons and walks!!!!

The weather has been so great! I love spring and the anticipation of summer and the fact that we don't need to wear hats and mittens!!!!
Sophia LOVES being outside and now that the snow has finally melted we have been getting lots of use out of her wagon. She is so proud of herself when she rides in her radio flyer! She really feels like a big girl. If we take her out of it to walk she will walk right back to the wagon and try to climb back in herself. Too cute! Her favorite is if we pull her and run really fast. She squeals and smiles so big her face looks like it is going to crack! Yesterday she signed "more" when I stopped running.

Over the last 3 days Sophia has gone from being a sometimes walker to a sometimes crawler. She walks about 90% of the time now. She looks like a little orangutang with her arms above her head for balance. She is getting really fast and sneaks up on us all of the time now. She walked in on Adam after he got out of the shower and scared him! It is so funny to see her motor around the house like this. I love it!

Next is turning her carseat around. So exciting because for the longest time we couldn't get Sophia above 20 lbs. Today she went for her follow-up visit to her Dr. because she was dropping in her growth and she has bounced back up to the 25th-50th %ile! So proud of her. The doctor wants to check her urines once a month until she is 18 months and then every 3 months after that. At 2 years old she will have a repeat bladder scan/u/s test and hopefully she will have grown out of her reflux! Fingers crossed. Sophia is a much happier girl and a much better eater when not on antibiotics!

Pigtails, sweaters and tantrums for us!!!!

Not much new these days.
Adam turned 30 on Friday so Sophia made him a birthday card. It was not an easy task as you can see from the picture. I took about 30 photos and this was the only one of her looking at the camera (half crying and mad at me)!

Sophia got a sweet package in the mail yesterday from her Great Aunt Judy! She made Sophia the most adorable sweater EVER!!!! Cute little hood and built in mittens..... it doesn't get better than that! It is so cozy and warm and we are so happy that Aunt Judy worked so hard to make this for her! Much appreciated! xoxo

The last photo is of our little ragamuffin! She is so busy these days and in to everything. She has discovered climbing and kicking.... She tries to climb the sofa tables, ottoman, beds, cupboards and windows! She likes to kick while I change her diaper and is not really into staying still AT ALL!!!!! She is becoming very independent and really discovering her own self. She is starting to push limits and test Adam and me. I think time outs will be near in our future!!!!

That is all for now!

Happy St. Patty's Day 2010!!!

Kiss me!!!! I'm Irish!!!!

I traded Sophia in for an Irish Oompa Loompa today! Pretty happy and pretty cute! This Oompa Loompa is getting LOTS OF IRISH KISSES today! No green beer for her but lots of Irish jigs!

Sophia is changing every day! I can hardly keep up with the funny stories and words in her baby book. I started a journal for her to read some day of all the special moments and cute things she does but there are so many now I don't know which stuff to record!

Her latest is bifting a toy or soo-soo across the room and then looking at me and saying (very innocently) "Uh-Oh"! She does it all day and thinks it is quite funny!

Another cute story:
Sophia is really into playing with wooden puzzles. She really likes her puzzle of Canada and so I decided to start teaching her all of the provinces. I would pick each one up and show it to her while saying the name of the province and putting it in its place. She really like Quebec and pretty soon I could ask her to show me Quebec and she would make her way to the puzzle and pick up the province of Quebec. Impressive but it gets funny..... I wanted to show Adam our progress and so we sat down and I asked Sophia to show us where Quebec was. She picked up the province piece and said "cock"! Now whenever she shows me Quebec she say "cock"! Too funny but not what I want her to be saying out in public!!!!

When I ask her where her eyes are now she will 8 out of 10 times squint and point to her eyes and yell "EYES"!!!! Sometimes she gets nose right and sometimes ears! That is all thanks to Relic who started teaching her the parts of her face while here visiting!

Not much else new. She is still getting better with walking. She pulls Adam and I around the house on little walks. All I have to do is touch her arm now and she will walk. As soon as I stop touching her though she gets stubborn and sits down. All in her own time I guess!

Dr. Suess and my funny girl!

I found these Dr. Suess onsies the other day and although they didn't have Sophia's size I managed to fit her into a 9 month one for now. No drier for this onsie and maybe it will last a month!
Anyhow, it is super cute and I had fun taking pictures of Sophia strut her stuff, dance and laugh at her Daddy! She is such a ham these day and has us in stitches almost constantly!

A funny story I have to tell you:
A couple of nights ago we had just finished dinner and were playing in the living room with Sophia. It was only about 7pm. All the sudden she snuggled next to me and put her head on the floor. She did this a couple of times and I asked her "are you tired Sophia?". She immediately popped up and made the sign for "bath" and started squealing really loud. Adam asked her "Do you want to go have a bath?". She screamed and said "Ya" and started crawling to the bathroom as fast as she could! When she got there she squealed when Adam started the water and then lifted each leg so he could take her socks and pants off. I started to get everything ready for her bedtime and Adam started laughing and asked me to come in and see her. She was standing in the middle of the bath with her arms up in the air saying "all done". When I asked if she wanted out she answered "Ya" and then frantically did the milk sign. I got her dried off and all dressed for the bed the whole time she was doing the milk sign. We gave her her bottle and by the time we put her in her crib she was asleep. She slept from 7:30 pm until 9 am the next day!!!!

It still amazes me her ability to communicate with us these days! So much less frustration for her.

Visit with Nana and Relic!

Nana and Relic just came for a visit last week. They spent a couple of nights with us and Sophia LOVED it!
It took her a few hours to warm up to Relic but then she was attached to him at the hip! It was pretty funny to watch. She would scope him out somewhere in the house, make her way over to him and literally try to climb up his legs to get to him. They practiced naming the parts of their faces on each other. By the time Relic left, Sophia could point to his nose, ears, eyes and mouth! She has only done it a couple of times for me so I better get practicing more with her.
It was a fun visit and really nice time for Sophia to get to know her Nana and Relic even more. Next month Sophia and I are going to see Nana and Relic's new house in Courtenay. This will be her first trip to the island and should be loads of fun!

Our little 13 monther!!!!

So hard to believe she is 13 months old! Where do the days go?
Sophia is a ton of fun! What a personality this kid has on her. She is still changing daily and I am finding it hard to keep up with recording all of the change.

Her words as of now are: Mama, Dada, Gog (dog), Dadou (Doggy), Kitty, Bay (bye), na na na (no no no), hi, hiya, howau (how are you), teats (treats), ba (bath), ya, Mum, bawd (bald), papa, nana, dat (that), what, watisit (what is it?)

Her signs are now: more, milk, water, food/eat, bath, all done, hungry and sometimes diaper.

It is really funny because she is doing her sign appropriately and on her own now. When it is close to nap time I will look at her in the living room and she will just sit there and sign milk until I notice. At about 7:30 pm every night Sophia will sign for a bath when she wants one. In the bath she will stand up and sign all done to get out. She will sign for water when she is thirsty. It is really amazing! It is not slowing down her speech at all and if anything is bringing it on stronger!

Sophia is starting to take to walking more as well. She will now walk on her own from one thing to another if it is not too far. She is up to 11 steps to me now but still prefers crawling! She moves like a sloth and my family gets a kick out of it. She is very methodical in her movements with crawling, walking, eating..... She takes lots of care in everything and practices life cautiously!!!

She is truly an entertainer and will do just about anything for a laugh! Funny faces, funny words, funny dances. If I ask her to sing the "bop bop" song from a toy she will start to swing her arms to dance and try to sing while saying "bop bop". On walks if she hears a dog she will yell "Dadou" and start to bark back at a dog! When Finn barks out the window Sophia will join in!

Sophia is still having a rough go with her UTI problems. She has grade two bilateral vesicoureteric relflux. Her ureter valves are underdeveloped. She is more prone to UTI's and is now on her 3rd in 2 months. She is just finishing another batch of antibiotics and hopefully it has done the trick. The antibiotics really make her feel crummy and have reduced her appetite quite a bit. As a result we had her at the pediatricians today and Sophia has gone from 20 lbs 7 oz down to 19 lbs 11 oz. We have to take her back in three weeks to check on her growth and possibly look at some treatments for handling the problem. We have asked for a referral to a pediatric urologist just so we can get some more info and feel better about the whole thing. This is quite stressful and is really hard to watch your baby feel yucky, lose weight, and constantly be on medications.... Wish Sophia luck....

Anyhow, not much else to report. Sophia is the GREATEST daughter and such a sweet baby girl. We are having TONS of fun with her and are loving her quirky self!
